Rise of the Warlock King
The Old Man of the Woods
Guardian of the Northern Woods and Hunter of Goblins.
Favel Nostron was a carpenter and married man until his small village was raided by goblins roughly 40 years ago. That very night he swore vengeance over the body of his dead wife, before heading out into the night. Over the next three months he slowly hunted down and killed all of the goblins who had participated in the raid, but his vengeance was only fulfilled after he had discovered that the goblins were sent to his village by the craven mayor of a neighboring village (he had paid the goblins off and given them a new target). When the mayor lay dead at Favel’s feet he felt the weight of rage, which had almost consumed him entirely, lift from his shoulders and leave him a drained shadow of his former self. That day he left all of his belongings behind and walked into the Northern Woods. Those who saw this assumed that he would soon die. Over the following decades, however, stories began to circulate of the Man of the Woods (and eventually the Old Man of the Woods) who would help travellers in the forest and who had no sympathy for goblins (or known traitors). Some who met him were certain that this mysterious figure (with long hair and hide clothing) was Favel Nostrun. In recent years he has begun to show a capricious side of his nature, being more than willing to call upon the power of nature to chastise those who displease him.
