Rise of the Warlock King
These rough, ore rich hills lie on the far side, or the fahrman side, of the Elder Mountains and lead down into Fahrman’s Forest. In composition they appear to be very similar to the Blood Iron Hills, which is what drew dwarven explorers to the region. They were soon driven back by fierce fahrman warriors, and so a military force was dispatched to claim the hills for the Empire of the Dwarves. Despite initial success, the imperial force (made up of dwarven heavy infantry and sappers, elven archers, halfling and gnome scouts and human light infantry) soon met heavy resistance. Eventually, at the Battle of Three Horn Rise, the imperial troops were completely routed and sent fleeing back towards the mountains. Then followed The Bloody March, where the fleeing imperial force was hounded back through their own supply lines (to say nothing of the men and women of the supply chain) all the way to Harrowing Pass, where the surviving soldiers and caravaners (a total of 33 people all told; the original army numbered close to 1000 men and the support people would have been at least as many) were allowed to escape to warn others not to return. Since then, the Empire has halted all plans to expand into the region and has built strong forts to guard the known trails through the Elder Mountains.
